Trout caught brown 126 (87)
Average per rod visit 4.9 (3.42)
Number of rods 265 (171)
Stocking dates for Cattespool are to be confirmed by our suppliers the first of which should be before the end of FEBRUARY and the second late MARCH/APRIL. As you may of noticed from the news letter we are going to stock some larger rainbows in the region of 5/6 lbs at the request of some of our members and this will happen during the second stocking. But to make this worth while due to the extra expense of the price of the larger fish we are making a temporary request that no fish over 5 lb are killed prior to 1st AUGUST.
Sorry but we only have limited information for the following waters:-
The water was low for much of the season but despite this good catches were made with a lot of wild fish showing especially grayling. Best brown trout was 2.5lbs. Best grayling was 2.25lbs. Plans for a new fish pass should improve flows at Aymestrey.
This was a successful season with good coarse fishing producing barbel to 8lbs and chubb to 5lbs. Good fly fishing results for brown trout and grayling.
July through to October there were good water levels producing excellent catches with sea trout to 6lbs and salmon to 8lbs. Work has been carried out on the river and the junction pool is now much easier for casting a fly on the flats and the wall pool. There are new owners downstream of the bridge and they have been very helpful. This is an excellent stretch of water and a great asset to the club.
The rod numbers are generally up this year as is the average per rod.
The Club takes Bio-security very seriously and encourages all members to take regard of the Check,Clean and Dry policies from the Environment Agency to try to ensure that we do not transfer any undesirable agents from one water to another. If you wish to fish accompanied by your dog, please do not let the dog swim in the river since this blows holes straight through any Bio-security policies
A full copy of the reports for all our waters is available for members and a copy will be sent on request through this web site.
Members must include their membership number (on your membership card).
WOULD MEMBERS PLEASE SEND THEIR OWN REPORTS DURING 2018 OF THEIR SUCCESS WITH FISH CAUGHT AND FLY USED USING THE CONTACT PAGE.
